Animotion

Animotion was a New Wave Band that enjoyed some mild success in the mid and late 1980’s.

The group released three studio albums between 1984 and 1988.

The single that put the group on the map was “Obsession” which peaked at #6 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts in 1985.

That single featured lead singers Astrid Plane (What a great name!) and Bill Wadhams.

The group released a follow-up single, “Let him Go” which reached #39 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts in 1985.

The group underwent a number of personnel changes prior to their third album being released in 1988.

The group returned to the charts with “Room to Move” which reached #9 on the Billboard Charts in 1989. That single featured new lead singers Paul Engemann, and Cynthia Rhodes.

Cynthia Rhodes is an Actress/Dancer/Singer who appeared in films such as “Dirty Dancing”, “Flashdance”, and “Staying Alive”. She is currently married to singer Richard Marx.

“Room to Move” was featured in the 1988 Comedy “My Stepmother is an Alien” starring Dan Aykroyd and Kim Basinger.

Animotion broke up in 1990.

In 2008, the band reunited with many of it’s original members including Astrid Plane and Bill Wadhams.

The group now plays occasional shows around the country.
