Thank God for the Internet (Yes, I said that)

If you haven’t already heard, MTV has dropped “music television” from its logo.

All I have to say, is that it’s about damn time. For years now, MTV has been nothing but horribly done dramas, and reality shows. The only music being that which was used in the background of these shows ,and having Music Awards (which honestly have lost their charm in recent years as well).

MTV debuted nearly 30 years ago, on August 1 1981, with “the first thing you saw was the MTV logo superimposed over the flag an astronaut is sticking into the moon.” (100 Greatest Moments in Rock History). The original logo looking like:

The logo has now been replaced with photos of MTV’s stars, namely Snookie from Jersey Shore. Hey, I’m just glad they are being honest about what they truly embody today.

But I am grateful for the internet, because at least there is still one place where I can see some incredibly new, innovative music videos. Videos like Sigur Ros frontman Jón Þór Birgisson’s video as shown below:
